My favorite softer-smoother hair mask

Sad day. Sniffle sniffle. I just ran out of the very last drop of my all-time favorite hair mask, Redken Nature’s Rescue Cooling conditioner. I bought it on a whim over a year ago and it has lasted all that time using it about once every two weeks. It’s fantastic.

It’s more affordable then other deep conditioners (this link will take you to buy it only for $22. And remember, it lasts about a year), it has a wonderful cooling sensation, it deep conditions, I think it speeds up blow drying time and it makes your hair smell amazing all day. The smell is really unique, it’s this fresh, clean and warm smell. Kind of like puppies. I’m not kidding. (Redken would probably not love that I said that, but who doesn’t love puppies?)

After washing your hair, spread a quarter-sized amount from root to tip, massage in with your finger tips and let absorb for 1-2 minutes while you wash your face or do other shower routine things. Rinse and go! Your hair will be noticeably smoother and softer all day.

I will definitely be replacing this container as part of my beauty routine.

HealthyLip LaVanila is the Lip Screen you need to have

Creamy, smooth, fresh and slightly minty. That’s how I would describe the LaVanila Lip Screen from my recent purchase at Sephora. It packs more sunscreen than any other lip protection I’ve seen (at least any lip protection that doesn’t look/taste/smell like chalk) and it is free of parabens and synthetic dyes.

But here’s my favorite part. You know how many times you’ve tried to get into a pot of something – whether it’s a lip butter, solid perfume or some other potted makeup – and either given up because you’d just put lotion on and your hands were slippery or you’ve tried to pry it open only to make the lid tighter. Say goodbye to that! The Lip Screen has a twist cap with just a little half-turn to get it off. No more metal pots of lip butter that will never see the light of day! It works perfectly!

This is going to be a staple for all beach and ski trips for me from now on. And it will seemingly last forever so for $16, it’s worth the price. Click here to buy it from Sephora and benefit this blog! Or if you want to test another LaVanila product, their Lip Shine glosses, here’s a great deal on a Limited Edition 5-pack from Beauty.com.

My three favorite Scented Holiday Candles

In my world, candles fall into the same obsessive category as beauty products. Maybe it’s because I want my house to smell like Anthropologie or maybe it’s because a great holiday candle makes it truly seem like Christmas. Either way, I love me a great smelling candle.

I have a few favorite candles but since Thanksgiving is only 8 days away, I thought it would be timely to share my three favorite holiday candles! Here they are, in no particular order. 🙂

Yankee Candle in Mistletoe

This candle smells exactly like Christmas when we start to unpack the decorations and put up the tree. You detect hints of ornaments right out of the box, freshly cut Christmas trees, cider, dust and even snowy air. All of it. It’s wonderful. Definitely not a candle I start burning before Thanksgiving though.

Bath and Body Works 3-wick candle in Winter

This candle is fresh, sweet, pine-scented and snowy. It’s a great one to have burning on cold days and doesn’t scream of Christmas nearly as much as Mistletoe (above).

Anthropologie Hobnail candle in Frosted Pine

The priciest of my three picks but the prettiest, this is a great splurge candle. I usually buy one or two each year as “gifts” then just give them to myself. The jar is beautiful and the scent is divine. Even though the Frosted Pine is my favorite, the Hobnail candle also comes in a Pomegranate and Applespice that are very good, but a little sweet for me.

What are your go-to scented candles? What is burning at your house right now? Leave it in the comments, I’d love to know!
